
Recently, the PVC lined FRP tower for the chlor-alkali industry project undertaken by our company has completed all manufacturing processes and is currently undergoing water injection pressure testing and sealing tests at our factory (Hebei Jiarui FRP Co., Ltd.). The chlor-alkali production process involves high concentrations of chlorine gas, chlorides, and strongly alkaline media, placing extremely stringent requirements on the corrosion resistance and structural stability of the equipment materials. Our technical team, considering the tropical maritime climate of Indonesia and the specific process parameters of the project, fully considered the service conditions under the long-term coupled effects of high temperature, high humidity, and strongly corrosive media in the structural design.
Technical Highlights and Manufacturing Challenges
The main body of the tower is molded from thermosetting resin-based composite materials, and the inner wall lining layer uses high-quality polyvinyl chloride material for a composite lining design. This composite structure leverages the advantages of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) materials-lightweight, high-strength, and highly designable-while providing an excellent corrosion barrier through a dense PVC lining, making it particularly suitable for highly oxidizing media environments such as hypochlorite and wet chlorine commonly found in chlor-alkali applications. Compared to traditional metal-lined or all-metal towers, this composite structure achieves approximately 40% weight reduction while maintaining the same corrosion resistance level, significantly reducing the frequency of subsequent maintenance.
During manufacturing, our company strictly adheres to relevant ISO and ASTM standards, conducting process inspections at every stage, from lining welding and surface treatment to FRP winding curing. For the long-distance sea freight requirements of exports to Indonesia, the equipment interface flanges and support structures have been specifically reinforced. The ongoing factory water trial primarily verifies the structural sealing performance, leak-free flange connections, and overall stiffness of the equipment under full-water conditions. The test tank is filled to 1.2 times the equipment's design volume, and the pressure holding time is 48 hours. Testing personnel record deformation and temperature compensation data hourly to ensure all quality indicators meet the technical agreement requirements before delivery.
