GRP moulded grating is a composite material consisting of a polyester or vinylester matrix resin reinforced with glass fibre. GRP moulded grating are produced using an open, heated mould and a wet lay-up technique with the continuous addition of glass fibres, chemical additives and pigment.
The components are inserted into the mould in alternating layers wetted with resin. At the end of the forming process, the gratings are cooled and then removed from the mould. This production method results in a grating characterised by high bi-directional mechanical strength, both transverse and longitudinal, as well as resistance to corrosion and chemicals.
